Equity, Diversity, and inclusion

Equity, Diversity, and inclusion Committee

Mission Statement:

Fernbrook Family Center's EDI committee is composed of staff across the agency that are deeply committed to representing and reflecting the unique experiences, perspectives, and viewpoints of our people, partners, and the communities we serve. By championing diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the workplace the committee upholds Fernbrook's values of community and advocacy for the company and clients we serve.

Vision Statement:

To guide Fernbrook in its efforts to be a company that elevates the voices of those with unique lived and often silenced experience and practices allyship with our clients, staff, and communities we serve.

Member Commitments:

  • Provide guidance to agency leads, department heads, and staff as needed
  • Be an active and engaged ally
  • Provide training and resources as needed
  • Continued and purposeful striving for cultural humility and anti-oppression
  • Commitment to engage in self-guided learning, reflection, and experience

Supporting our Staff

At Fernbrook we strive to support our staff in ways that elevate equity, diversity, and inclusion, and promote connection. Two kinds of ongoing spaces are provided for staff:

Conscious Conversations are designed to be safe, inclusive spaces for Fernbrook staff to come together as peers to share thoughts, feelings, and support around important, and at times, uncomfortable, topics that impact our work. Conscious Conversations are held on Teams and facilitated by EDI Committee members. Discussion is intended to be participant-driven and reflective in nature

Community Connections are designed to be safe, inclusive spaces for Fernbrook staff to come together as peers and metabolize the stress of clinical work and its impact on our personal lives. Community Connections are held on Teams and facilitated by EDI Committee members. Discussion is intended to be participant driven and reflective in nature.

Supporting our clients

Supporting our communities

Fernbrook Family Center is dedicated to growing their equity, diversity, and inclusion initiative through providing events and trainings to educate and spread awareness in the communities we serve. Our mission is to provide community members whether or not you are in the field of mental health or not with resources, different perspectives, and topics that encourage a culturally inclusive and diverse community.

This event is free to the public due to federal funding from the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
